This suite of 3 spreadsheets undertake the structural design and analysis of a concrete highway using the AASHTO 1998 Method.
The empirical AASHTO 1998 Method originates in the US but is widely used throughout the world for highway structural design.
The spreadsheet analyses the estimated design life of a concrete road based on user inputs including concrete strength and thickness, foundation strength, environmental factors and reliability instructions. The design life of the roadway is then presented as an estimated future ESALs rating.
The spreadsheet includes unique features to analyse the design life effects of alternative pavement thicknesses and alternative design tolerances, allowing the designer to quickly specify a pavement design to suit any required design life.
