This spreadsheet allows the user to design a thin concrete overlay or whitetopping repair on an existing asphalt pavement.
The spreadsheet takes user inputs for the existing asphalt pavement design, environmental conditions, performance criteria and new concrete design details. The spreadsheet then calculates the corner tensile bending stress of the repair and the curling stresses induced by temperature differences. These design parameters are then used to calculate the design maximum allowable traffic loading of the whitetopping repair, and the existing asphalt fatigue.
The spreadsheet also includes unique tools allowing the user to see the effects of different design parameters, such as different slab lengths, whitetopping depths and temperature differentials. This greatly simplifies the design process for whitetopping repairs.
