Slab Punching Shear Analysis & Reinforcement Design

This spreadsheet allows user to analyse a loaded reinforced concrete slab for punching shear, and if required design the necessary reinforcement in accordance with the British Standard BS 8110.

The spreadsheet takes user input values for the slab design parameters such as dimensions, concrete strength and reinforcement, and inputs for the design load to be resisted.

Then the spreadsheet calculates the reinforcement required to resist the design sagging, hogging and shear forces. These are presented in a unique tool allowing the user to instantly analyse the effects of different slab depths without changing the input parameters.

Next the spreadsheet assists the user in designing the bending reinforcement with unique tools showing the user the section depth at which compression reinforcement is required, and showing all the options for reinforcement within the bar spacings specified in the British Standards.

Then the spreadsheet assists the user to design the shear reinforcement with a unique tool showing the user exactly where designed links are required and where minimum links are required along the slab. The user is also presented with  useful tool showing the best options for designing the minimum and designed shear links with vertical bars.

Finally the spreadsheet presents a summary of the final designed slab, with alerts where required  parameters have not been met. The spreadsheet also presents three detail drawings of the designed slab, two section drawings showing to scale the bending reinforcement design in each direction, and a plan drawing showing the lab dimensions.
