This spreadsheet uses three different elastic analysis methods to calculate the vertical and radial stresses and strains and the vertical deflections at each layer interface within a loaded flexible pavement. These results are essential for most mechanistic road analysis tools, including the MEDG Asphalt Design Spreadsheet, the UK Flexible Pavement Design Tool and many more.
The spreadsheet uses three different elastic methods. The simplest and quickest method analyses a simple single layer pavement system under user defined loading conditions using linear elastic principles. The 2nd method also analyses a single layer system, but uses a non-linear analysis technique to include the effects of the soils self weight which affects the load bearing characteristics of the soil. This leads to a much more realistic analysis of a single layer system.
The 3rd and most complex method includes a multilayer analysis using an equivalent thickness technique. This allows a simple analysis to be made of a multilayer system with up to 5 different layers. This allows the user to analyse most common flexible pavement constructions in seconds.
The single layer analysis spreadsheets also includes unique tools allowing the user to see the stresses, strains and vertical deflections of the layer at any depth, without re-entering any of the input data.
