This spreadsheet calculates the minimum layer thickness and minimum stiffness required for a road foundation in accordance with the UK DMRB. These results allow the user to design a road base which can be added to a full pavement design package such as the MEDG Asphalt Design Spreadsheet and the UK Flexible Pavement Design Tool.

The spreadsheet takes user input values for the foundation class under the UK DMRB, and details of the design traffic loadings. The spreadsheet then calculates the minimum foundation layer thickness and the minimum stiffness required for a road foundation in accordance with the UK DMRB. The spreadsheet also calculates the expected long term deformation of the foundation surface.

The spreadsheet also includes a unique tool allowing the user to see the effects of different Wheel Loads on the minimum foundation stiffness, without re-entering any of the input data.
